The Bloom Forum | Project 52 | Week 16 | Paper

This week has been really hard for everyone here in the south. Our neighbors in Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia (and others) were devastated by storms this week. My heart goes out to everyone who has had to deal with loss this week.

I have several projects going on right now and all this creativity is making my head hurt. In addition to my weekly Bloom Forum Project 52, I have 4 creative assignments for the Create Photography Workshop I am taking. Tune back here for my assignment photos later this week.

This weeks theme is Paper: This is one of the kids art projects this week. Ok.. I kinda cheated on this one. But seriously… paper is a HARD subject! I am anxious to see what all the other girls came up with for this one. My submission feels lame.

Now lets see what the girls have done! Check out Kristin M. Young’s Work first!

Gail Pomare - awww made me smile.. adorable!!!!!

Stacey S - It’s totally wonderful – and I love the shallow depth of field!

Amy Lucy - I need to photograph my kid’s wonderful art projects more often. You’ve inspired me!

JessicaN - I love this! Kids art is the way to go with this week’s theme. I love your DOF!

Cara - How can you not love kids art work. Great interpretation of this weeks theme.

robyn - i agree with Amy… you inspire me to take more pictures of my girls art!

Alison Crane - Maybe I should photograph some of the kids’ art so I don’t feel so bad throwing it out! I’m in Create too! I need to get shooting!

Christina - I think this was a great idea!

Macro Practice

A few months ago, I got my first “L” series lens… a 100mm L Macro. This baby is NICE and heavy… but I love it. Now that the weather is warming up and flowers are in bloom I have my first real motivation to get out there and practice some macro photography. I have A LONG way to go, but here are some quick ones I took this week. Now I have a NEW reason to whip my flower beds back into shape!

The Bloom Forum | Project 52 | Week 15 | Grow

This week our theme for the Bloom Forum’s Project 52 was “Growth”

I had one of those moments this week. For you fellow photogs, you hopefully have experienced what I’m referring to. That moment when you catch your breath because the vision in your head has actually materialized…either on your camera’s LCD or on your computer screen after adding that last little touch in photoshop. I knew I was close… But something just wasn’t right. I kept tweaking and finally decided to crop in a bit more and BAM! It hit. I felt like I actually had a clue and was more than just someone with a nice camera…someone who had a vision and CREATED it. It was a wonderful feeling. And as I’m typing this I just realized that although I had intended to express growth for this week with a shot of my son on a scale…the fact that I just felt myself “grow” as a budding photographer means just as much to me.

On a lighter note, I’m including a bit of a pullback for this shot… I was having to bribe Cameron with donuts to help me. I think he managed to negotiate about 5 out of this session!

The Bloom Forum | Project 52 | Week 14 | Reflections

Its time for the Bloom Forum’s Project 52! This week has been a busy week. I was trying to figure out how I was going to incorporate this week’s theme : REFLECTIONS into my photograph. While pondering this my daughter threw a temper tantrum (she’s almost 2… so you’ll have to excuse her). I thought to myself, why all that foot stomping…looks familiar! And there is no denying how much my son and I look alike. And then there is that pale skin that my daughter inherited. The more and more I looked, I saw how much my children are a reflection of me…. in the way that they look and act. Puts a lot of pressure on a mom doesn’t it!??

I even had Cameron help me this week. He shot my picture USING MANUAL (i set) and BBF!!!! ( I was so proud) My camera was so big in his hands and as hard as he tried to keep the “red box” focus point on my eye, it still is a little OOF, but I love it anyway!

Now don’t forget to see what Robyn Oakenfold of Little Bug Photography has for us this week! Make the Circle!!
