Meet Bipod!

Meet Bipod. Bipod is a 5 month old kitten that was brought in to me in October. At that time she was completely paralyzed in the back end. She couldn’t even go the bathroom without help. Someone found her on their front porch (being oggled by the dogs) and couldn’t keep her. I was supposed to put her to sleep, but she passed the “Potter Test” and therefor was given reprieve. Even though it was a long shot, we started treating her for a spinal injury. THE DAY I had decided to give up… she peed on her own. So she was given another chance. Over the next few weeks she started moving her back legs. Now, three months later she can walk. She looks a little funny. Her front legs and back legs don’t seem to communicate, but she doesn’t seem to mind. She is now ready for her forever home. I wish I could take this sweet baby home, but she needs an inside home and alas.. my dogs are proven feline intolerant. So if you know of anyone who is looking for a SUPER affectionate lap mate… here’s your girl!

Dana - Rachel- you have a heart of platinium!!! It just warms my heart to hear about how much you care for animals. You are truly awesome <3 <3. i hope she finds a loving home soon!!!!

The Bloom Forum Fab 15 | 52 Project | Week 1 | Self Portrait

I am a member of several photography forums, but no other forum has given me the support and encouragement of The Bloom Forum. It was started back this fall by two lovely ladies who teach photography workshops. After frequenting some larger, less personal forums, this one was like a breath of fresh air! Several groups within the forum have gotten together to organize 52 Projects for 2011! These projects involve a photograph a week that is OUR interpretation of the theme decided for that week. Each Sunday we will all post our images for that week. The coolest part for YOU is that in each post, we linked to each others blog! SO after you are finished with me, you can mosey on over to the next member of our group. It will form one Fabulous circle of 15 members!

So the theme for this week is SELF PORTRAIT Needless to say this was hard. Not only from a technical standpoint… imagine balancing a camera with attached flash, while trying to BBF and keep myself in the frame and at a good angle…. at arms lenght… My nose ONLY lends itself to so many angles mind you!

This result might seem a bit “off” to some, but I actually loved the dissymmetry of it.

Now… the cool part! You can head on over to Carrie Terrones’s Blog and see what great things she has come up with!

Carrie - Oh I agree…I love that it is a bit off. Beautiful!

Amy Lucy - I love the feel of this, especially the focus. Wonderful job!

Stacey S - Technically, definitely a lot to juggle at once! I love the result – a unique self-portrait!

AmandaB - love the way you embrace the imperfection of the image! awesome.

Jasmine - Love this!

robyn - it is so hard isn’t it, I think I took 200 before I decided to use a mirror… I think this is a great artistic interpretation.

Rachel - I love it!!! This image is wonderful.

christina - I love your unique interpretation! Well done :)

Cara - This really draws me in, love the choices made.

wendy - I like it too. Love your crop. Selfies are tough! I have to use the self timer or the only thing you’ll see are my crows feet. :)

Tamara - Love your self portrait, the crop, bw all of it.

Alison Crane - I love this take on the self-portrait. BBF and self-portraits are so tough. Every time I try I fail. This works beautifully!

The Fab 15 ~ Project 52

A group of girls from THE BLOOM FORUM are getting together to do a 52 Project! Each week we will post a pic that is an interpretation of the theme for that week. My post will then have a link to the next photog’s post in her blog. It should be great fun!
