Bloom Forum | Project 52 | Week 32 | School

So.. this may not be the most flattering Back to School shot…. my son was starting his first day of kindergarten.. so you pair Classic Photographer’s Kid syndrome with “I don’t want to go to Kindergarten nerves” and this is what you get.

That was two weeks ago. Now he loves it… loves his classmates and most importantly his teacher!

schoolAmandahas in store for this week!

The Bloom Forum | 10 on 10 Project | August

I have gained so much from my Project 52 that I participate in each week as part of the Bloom Forum. It has given me motivation each week to pick up my camera and shoot something that I might have otherwise missed. It has linked me with 14 other wonderful women, photographers, and friends. It has helped me to preserve memories that otherwise probably would have faded quickly. So when Callie, a member of the Bloom Forum asked for those interested in doing a 10 on 10 project I jumped on board IMMEDIATELY! The 10 on 10 concept was actually “borrowed” from another group on the forum started by Shannon Harrison. I hope they don’t mind that we chose to form our own group, because this is a wonderful idea.

The Project: 10 on 10
What : Take 10 images in roughly 10 hours of your day
When: The 10th of every month
Who: 10 lovely women
Where: Blog Circle

Ok… so here goes my first attempt. This was shot on a Saturday. Cameron and his dad went off to have a “Boy’s Day” so me and Coley had the morning to ourselves. Later on we went to a cookout with fellow Bloom Member, Shea Parker. It was a special time. After the recent Jackson, MS Bloom Meetup she and I played matchmaker with her sister and my best friend. This evening was the first time Shea got to meet him. I have more images from that night on my previous blog post ( including an image or two of “the couple”) if you are interested.

And don’t forget to make the rounds!!!! Visit Alison Crane to see what her day was like!

This baby almost ALWAYS wakes up happy! Morning Coley!

Time to make Breakfast!

Boot time! And she can do it “All by My-seff!!”

She decided she wanted a new do…. At two.. she STILL does not have much hair… we are patiently (yeah right) waiting for it to come in though!

Time for Tea…

And Raviolis! ( she pronounces it “Iolies” )

Big Brother, Cameron is home and tuckered out from “Daddy Time”

At the Parkers, Coley tried to lay claim to some toys…

After a rainshower.. the kids went back outside… sans some clothing and had a blast! ( to see more of these… see previous post! )

Not sure WHAT was going on here… I walked into the bathroom to see Charlie Parker on on the bathroom cabinet, water going and I think Coley was trying to call on her cell for 9-1-1 assistance…

Cara - I love these Rachel, what a beautiful happy face to wake too, and the light in the 2nd shot is so pretty. The final shot is a classic, it really makes you speculate what was going on :D. As for Coley’s hair, there is something special about slow growing hair, it keeps them little for a tad longer, which can only be good.

shannon harrison - i love these Rachel! so glad you decided to do this. i think we’ll all be so happy we did this in a few years :) im dying over that car photo- pure childhood joy!

Kathy - Coley is super cute! Great images Rachael!

Callie - adore these Rachel! the barrette shot made me giggle and I absolutely love the one of the boys on the little car. so fun to peek into your day!!

Ali C - These are fabulous! All of my kids had minimal hair until well after two. I cannot tell you how much I love the shot of the kids and the little car. It’s perfect in every way.

Christina - Great job! Your girl reminds me of my girl. Those barrettes images are definitely a treasure.

Nancy - Rachel ~ Love these images!! The one one the car is so cute!!

emily horton - Okay, these are adorable! The barrettes and then the riding-on-the-back-of-the-police-car… SO WONDERFULLY fun and sweet!!! Keepers for sure! :-)

Shea Parker- Clinton MS Photographer and Card Designer - Love the last one of Charlie and Coley! Who knows what he is telling her?!?! these are all great and such a fun project

Carrie Terrones - These are awesome Rachel! I love that you played matchmaker with Shea and I love your little girl’s new hair…gives me something to look forward to with my little girl :).

The Bloom Forum | Project 52 | Week 30 | Motion

Its Sunday! Time for our Bloom Forum’s Project 52!

This week our theme is Motion. I wasn’t sure WHAT I was going to do for this week. I kept thinking something would eventually come to me… but alas… here it was, Saturday afternoon and I had nothing! We were going over to a fellow Bloomie, Shea Parker’s house for a cooking, so I hoped that the kiddos would provide me with some inspiration. And they delivered! Shortly after we arrived it started to storm. The kids desperately wanted to go outside afterwards so we stripped them down and let them have at it. At one point all three swings were going at one time…. They had a ball! And I got my shot (s).

So… I might get in trouble for this part: WHY were we meeting at Shea’s house. Well other than she’s a great person and had suggested we get our kids together ages ago… there are sparks in the air… ( we hope). Its funny how divine intervention works sometimes. I met Shea for the first time at the Jackson area Bloom meet up. Her sister’s son was one of our models. I took a few pictures of him that turned out pretty well and was chatting with Shea about her sister. Long story short… we set her sister and my best friend up to meet. So after weeks of emails and then the first date… and second… and third… Shea decided it was high time he meet some of the family. So to help ease the nerves she invited us too. They are freaking adorable and we hope they continue to develop into something wonderful for them both. I managed to get a few (unwilling) shots of them as well. but shhhhh ( they don’t know I’m posting these “unapproved” shots) I couldn’t help it!

The Bloom Forum | Project 52 | Week 29 | Sky

Its another week of Bloom Forum’s Project 52! I finally feel like after weeks of trying to run around and less than stellar submissions, I finally am getting my feet back under me! I would have loved to have my 35mm for this week, but after struggling with it for over a week, I finally sent it in to be serviced and have yet to hear the verdict. Needless to say I am gutted. Hopefully next week I will have something spectacular to show you guys from it! Anyhow… this week I am falling back in love with the old steady 50mm 1.4!

We have been having lots of afternoon showers here, so getting a breathtaking sunset from me just isn’t going to happen… so I leave you with this: The calm before the storm!

Now complete the circle. I cannot wait to see what the other girls have for us! Firs pop on over to Cara of Victoria, Australia. I bet you are in for a treat!

Carrie Terrones - This is SUCH a cool sky picture Rachel, I love it!

Cara - Love the moodiness of this.

Amy Lucy - So dramatic! Very cool, Rachel.

JessicaN - Wow, so dark and beautiful. I love storm clouds. Great capture.

Tamara - Very dramatic. such detail in the clouds too!

Stacey S - I love storm clouds – this is a stunning capture!

A Girl and her Horse….

Just wanted to share this from our trip to the barn this afternoon. I often wonder why we spend so much time and money to have horses, when we don’t get to ride near as much as I’d like. Well this is why. So that my daughter will never have to be without… a horse.

Jessica Holden - Oh how I love this….I had a horse growing up, too!!
